Singer Natalie Cole has labelled her 2009 comeback concert a "miracle" because she feared she would never perform again prior to her kidney transplant.

The singer has battled ill health since she was diagnosed with hepatitis C back in 2008, and was offered a kidney by a fan when she spoke openly about her need for a transplant in April last year. Following the successful operation, Cole made a triumphant return to the stage at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles last September.

She received a standing ovation when she stepped on to the stage, and Cole admits she was overjoyed during that landmark moment.

Cole tells U.S. newsman Larry King:

"I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I was so excited. I was so happy... I was floating, you know... There was no guarantee that that was supposed to happen. So I knew it was a miracle moment. And the night was magic. It was just magic. It really was."
