R&B singer Montell Jordan is reportedly turning his back on his music career to become a pastor and dedicate his life to God.

The star scored big chart success with his 1995 hit This Is How We Do It, but he's now hanging up the microphone to concentrate on his commitments to his church in Atlanta, Georgia.

Breaking the news to fans via his Twitter.com blog, he writes:

"I often have spoken of my Christian belief and faith throughout my R&B career, yet this is my official retirement letter."

But Jordan, who released his last album in 2008, is giving devotees one final chance to see him on stage as an R&B star - he will perform This Is How We Do It for the last time on New Year's Eve!
