Vue Cinemas offer Mystery Movies!

So when you want to go to the cinema, you know what you're going to watch...right? What if you purchased a ticket, but didn't quite know what you were going to watch until the opening credits? Not something I'm guessing my readers would normally do.. Or would you?

Vue Entertainment are giving people the chance to see a movie before everyone else with the launch of their Mystery Movie. The very first screening kicks off on the 5 May 2009 at 6.30 pm, where cinema goers will be given an opportunity to view a film ahead of its official release. But, they won’t know what it is until the opening credits. The title of the movie is being kept so secret, that security will be present at each cinema to make sure that no-one lets the cat out of the bag. Oooh...I do LOVE a bit of intrigue :)

The standard ticket price applies....but don't worry folks, you will have the option to leave and seek a refund during the first 20 minutes of the film if it isn't what you thought it would be. However rumour has it that you won’t be going anywhere as the first title is sure to keep you stuck to your seat throughout!

Tickets for all the performances can be purchased at the Vue Cinemas website, or by calling 08712 240 240 or directly from the following cinemas:

  • Aberdeen
  • Basingstoke
  • Birmingham
  • Bolton
  • Bristol Cribs

Go on....treat yourself! I certainly will, if only to see what calibre of blockbuster movie this project kicks off with. I think I can guess which one it will be, but for now....live long and prosper ;)

Carrie Bradshaw hangs onto her Mr. Big!

Women around the world will be breathing a sigh of relief, now that it's been confirmed that Mr. Big WILL be back for the 'Sex and the City' sequel. In a seven-figure deal...Chris Noth has committed to the new project - due to be directed by Michael Patrick King for New Line Cinema.

The movie will begin filming in early September '09, and Warner Bros. has set a 28 May 2010 release date.

But what will his role be in the sequel? Rumour has it that it will be set in London.. Whether it turns out to be true...is another matter.

I'll keep you posted! :)

'Little Shop of Horrors' due to reopen?

The classic 1960s version of 'The Little Shop of Horrors' is being given the remake treatment - movie gossip site Bloody Disgusting exclusively revealed.

Declan O'Brien (director of 'direct-to-video' effort 'Wrong Turn 3', he revealed to Bloody-Disgusting that he just optioned the rights to Roger Corman's classic 'The Little Shop of Horrors'!

He said:

“Actually its been a busy time for me. I just optioned Roger Corman’s 'The Little Shop of Horror', which Im setting up as a big studio remake.

"We're in the process of talking to studios this week. It will be a remake of Roger’s original 1960’s movie. I don’t want to reveal too much, but it’s me, it’ll be dark!"

Rest assured...this won't be a musical, as per the Rick Moranis version. In the original (which featured Jack Nicholson's first motion picture performance) a clumsy young man nurtures a plant and discovers that it's a bloodthirsty plant, forcing him to kill to feed it.

A scary remake? Who could star as Seymour Krelboin? Hopefully NOT Zac Efron...please! He seems to be a man everyone's talking about at the moment :/

'Tudor' reign on Showtime continues.

Source: Variety

Showtime has confirmed that it will make a fourth Tudors season, allowing the historical drama to complete the saga of King Henry VIII. The fourth season will include 10 one-hour episodes and will air in the States in spring 2010.

Series creator and exec producer Michael Hirst will once again pen each script, with production slated to start in June '09 in Dublin.

The decision to renew 'The Tudors' comes after Showtime officials passed on series orders for four projects they'd been looking at closely during the past few weeks.
Insiders said that none of the skeins matched the creative expectations of a network that didn't launch a new series in 2008.

Showtime considered two finished pilots, family drama 'Possible Side Effects' from Tim Robbins and dark comedy 'End of Steve' from Peter Tolan and Matthew Perry; also mulled over were presentations of 'L Word' spinoff - 'The Farm' and Lionsgate comedy 'Ronna and Beverly' from 'Weeds' showrunner Jenji Kohan.

'The Tudors' season 3 (starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers) premiered on April 5 to 726,000 total viewers and a cumulative audience of 1.3 million once encores and on-demand viewing were factored in.

It's a shame that they won't be continuing the Tudor series, with a new version of Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth's reign. Still...I guess the latter has almost been done to death now, and new ideas on how to depict Lizzie's reign might be few and far between.

I'm on episode 2 of the new series, and it continues to grab my attention as much as the first series did. Can't wait for episode 3! :)

Megan Fox's She-Hulk power?

Could Transformers beauty Megan Fox star as a huge green woman - the cousin of The Incredible Hulk? She is apparently being lined up to play She-Hulk!

Fox is favourite to portray the giant green female in the big screen adaptation of the popular comic book series about The Incredible Hulk's cousin. A source says:

"'She-Hulk' comics are popular so it's only natural that the character makes the transition to the big screen.

The idea is to make She-Hulk sexier but even more savage than the Hulk, which is why Megan is the big favorite for the lead. She'll be green of course and will have to hang on to a few more pieces of clothes than the male version when she transforms!"

If all goes well...the 22-year-old actress will play lawyer Jennifer Walters, who dramatically transforms into the powerful monster when she is angry.

Recently, comic book fan Nicolas Cage admitted he wants his Ghost Rider co-star Eva Mendes to be considered for the part. Nicolas (who in fact is closely involved with the production of the movie) said:

"I'm working on 'She-Hulk' and I'd like to see Eva play her. It would be her in a bikini just kicking a lot of a*s, throwing cars. I'm trying to put that together as we speak."

POWER to the WOMEN I say :)
