The Ring 3 - in 3-D?

Imagine... Watching a scene like this in 3-D would scare me senseless, and Heat Vision reports that this could soon be a reality.

The third installment in the franchise, based on the Japanese horror movies, is being called "Ring 3D." David Loucka, who wrote the now-shooting thriller Dream House for Morgan Creek, has been hired to pen the script. Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are in negotiations to return as producers, and Vertigo and Benderspink are executive producing.

As yet, no director is on board.

The plot of the original movie centered on a young journalist investigating a mysterious videotape that seemed to cause the death of anyone within a week of viewing it.

The new movie is being fashioned as more teen-centric than the first, with the intention to reinvent the franchise (although full details are still being kept under wraps. One potential scenario involves teens finding a VHS player that still works.

Just imagine how many people Samara could wreak vengeance on if the curse applied to the same video hosted on YouTube. That would be a great nod to the current trend of sharing video clips.
