Kevin Alejandro speaks about 'True Blood' role.

Former Ugly Betty and Southland star Kevin Alejandro speaks about his latest role on the hit HBO show 'True Blood'- the third season premiered last night in the U.S.

In a candid interview with AfterElton Kevin spoke about his latest role as a mysterious stranger who gets romantically involved with Lafayette (played by Nelsan Ellis), and why he decided to play a gay character.

He said:

“Because it’s different. It was part of the appeal because I’m going straight from family man with kids, playing a detective in gang territory on [TNT's] Southland. We thought it would be a really nice balance and challenge to go from that to Jesus [on True Blood].”

As a straight actor with a wife and a child, this isn't the first time he's played a gay role. He starred as a gay hustler on Big Love, and last year he took on as role as a gay cop in Southland...followed closely by a brief gay role (Anton) in the new Melrose Place series. He did however play the role of a Justin's dad on Ugly Betty which featured a lovely scene where he stood up on a subway full of people to defend his ‘theatrical’ son - probably leading to where the actor gained the most fans from.

'Call Girl' to get the Hollywood treatment!

Billie Piper's sexy hit series Secret Diary Of A Call Girl is headed for the big time, as it is to be made into a movie!

The pop-star-turned-actress plays in-demand escort Belle in the raunchy show and reveals the drama, based on the memoirs of a real-life former prostitute, and production looks set to begin on a bigscreen adaptation as soon as the final season finishes.

Piper says:

"I'm about to start filming the fourth series and then that will be it. I'm not sure it has legs past four seasons so we're trying to develop a movie."

A source tells The Sun newspaper:

"The book has been a worldwide success and the TV show has been a hit on both sides of the Atlantic, a movie is the next obvious step."

The Belle de Jour on the big screen? Can't wait!

Cleo's 'Jolie' Biopic.

When you try to picture Cleopatra I would instantly see Elizabeth Taylor. But could you see Angelina Jolie as the famous Queen of the Nile? USA Today reports that author of  Cleopatra: A Life, Stacy Schiff, points out that "we have little idea of what she actually looked like."

Movie producer Scott Rudin has bought the rights to Schiff's book, and has immediately thought of Jolie in the role. His reps confirm that the project "is being developed for and with Jolie."

Schiff agreed that Jolie fits the bill and adds that "Physically, she's the perfect look." But who would play Marc Antony? Surely not Brad Pitt? Too obvious a choice?.

No official comment from the Jolie camp as of yet, but don't be too surprised to hear some casting information in the not too distant future!

Clash Of The Sequels?

According to the LA Times shooting of the Clash of the Titans 2 is likely to begin in January 2011.  What? I never even got a chance to see the first one yet!

Despite a number of helmers wanting the job, Jonathan Liebesman seems to have gone to the top of the list of preferred directors. Originally a horror director (he made "Darkness Falls" and the 2006 "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" prequel) Liebesman is beginning to dabble as an action director. The filmmaker has a movie called "Battle: Los Angeles" (about an alien invasion in this fair city) coming next year - one to watch out for! He's also onboard for another classic action flick for the Warner Bros.' re-imagining of "Odysseus" with the producers of "300," which Liebesman helped conceive and then sold to the studio.

The director of the first Clash, Louis Leterrier, chose not to return for the sequel.

So why the hurry to get this sequel completed?

The lead in Clash was also the lead in Avatar, and shooting for the sequel to this is set to begin in late 2011 - depending on what James Cameron's priorities are. So Sam is a popular guy at the moment.

For those who were diappointed with the poor 3-D in the first Clash movie, fear not! This time the sequel will be shot in 3-D! Having heard bad reviews regarding the previous conversion this does inject a bit of interest in me to watch the sequel.
