Quaid: "I'm Not Crazy Or A Criminal!"

Actor Randy Quaid is led from a Canadian Immigration and Refugee Board hearing in Vancouver, British Columbia October 22, 2010. Actor Randy Quaid has spoken out to address his recent arrest and legal woes, insisting he and his wife Evi are not "crazy".

The 'Independence Day' star and his wife were released from custody in Vancouver, Canada on Wednesday this week, where they were being held on a California warrant issued after they failed to show up for an arraignment earlier this month to face felony vandalism charges.

But speaking to reporters after a brief immigration hearing yesterday, Quaid maintained his innocence.

He told reporters:

"Up until a year ago, Evi and I had never had any run-in with the law whatsoever. We are not criminals, nor are we fugitives from justice, nor are we crazy.

"We are simply artists and film-makers being racketeered on."

The pair, who landed in trouble after allegedly squatting in a Montecito home they once owned, have requested asylum in Canada over fears they will be murdered for their money.

Quaid's hearing is scheduled to resume on 8 November 2010, according to Reuters.

Police Warn Over Fake TAKE THAT Tickets!

LONDON, ENGLAND - OCTOBER 27: Gary Barlow , Howard Donald, Mark Owen, Jason Orange and Robbie Williams of Take That visit BBC Radio 1 at Yalding House on October 27, 2010 in London, England. (Photo by Ian Gavan/Getty Images)

Police have issued a warning to TAKE THAT fans urging them not to purchase tickets for the British boyband's upcoming tour unless they are sold through official vendors. Even though most may have experienced technical difficulties, the trick is to keep trying and to have a little patience. See what I did there? :)

The Back for Good hitmakers announced plans for their first full tour together in 15 years earlier this week and authorities have already found scam websites selling fake passes. Fans eagerly anticipating the shows are being warned not to be duped by illegal sellers offering counterfeit tickets.

Detective Inspector Sean Crotty, of the Metropolitan Police Economic and Specialist Crime Command, says:

"There are huge numbers of Take That fans who will be desperate to get hold of tickets for these concerts.

"However, buying tickets from unofficial websites or agencies could result in them losing money, having their credit cards details compromised and ultimately losing out on the opportunity to see the band."

You may not have heard, but in August this year a conman narrowly escaped a prison sentence after pleading guilty to targeting hundreds of Take That fans in an online ticket scam. Jason Debney was charged with fraud after selling more than £8,000 worth of tickets on auction website eBay.com.

You've been warned!

SYFY Cancels 'Caprica'!

Despite various hopes that it will succeed, Deadline reports that Syfy's 'Battlestar Galactica' prequel 'Caprica' has been cancelled! The cable network said that it will be pulling the show off the schedule effective immediately!

The final five episodes of the sci-fi series will air in the first quarter of 2011 and will mark the end of the series' first season run.

Mark Stern, EVP of Syfy's original programming had this to say:

"We appreciate all the support that fans have shown for Caprica and are very proud of the producers, cast, writers and the rest of the amazing team that has been committed to this fine series.

"Unfortunately, despite its obvious quality, 'Caprica' has not been able to build the audience necessary to justify a second season."

After a soft start with the first part of its debut season at the beginning of the year, 'Caprica' returned with the second half of the season earlier this month to a mere 889,000 viewers and a 0.4 rating with adults 18-49. That was down from where it ended in the spring, with the series falling even further in the ratings since, meaning that it was only a matter of time before it would face the axe.

Even though this series is about to take its last breath, fans of 'Battlestar Galactica' needn't worry too much because Syfy has just greenlit a two-hour pilot for 'Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome', about the young years of Ensign William Adama, which comes from the brains of 'Battlestar Galactica' exec producer David Eick.

Fingers crossed Blood & Chrome doesn't suffer the same fate as its predecessor!

A New Mission For Charlie's Angels!

With all the hype surrounding the 'Hawaii Five-O' reboot, it was only a matter of time before another classic TV show got a makeover. And yes folks...it's 'Charlie's Angels' in the frame once again - according to Deadline.

The ABC Network has requested that a new pilot be made (to be produced by SONY TV) after it was originally set up at ABC with a pilot commitment last November with Josh Friedman as a writer. With all the best attempts, it didn’t go to pilot stage and, after the upfronts, it was put in redevelopment with new writers, 'Smallville' creators/executive producers Al Gough and Miles Millar. Given the success of their young Clark Kent story, it would be foolish not to expect them to wave their magic onto Charlie's girls.

Miami will be the location for the shoot, kick-starting in January 2011. Gough and Millar are exec producing, along with Leonard Goldberg (who produced the original series), Drew Barrymore and Nancy Juvonen.

As yet there is no news as to who the new Angels will be. Will they opt for a younger cast, or a more experienced line-up?

Nolan Confirms 3rd Batman Movie Title!

Mar 18, 2010 - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - Director CHRIS NOLAN arriving to the Showest 2010 - Warner Brothers Presentation Day held at the Paris Hotel & Casino. © Red Carpet Pictures

'Dark Knight' helmer Christopher Nolan has confirmed that the forthcoming third movie in the Batman trilogy will be called 'THE DARK KNIGHT RISES' -as confirmed in an interview with LA Times' Hero Complex.

Nolan also put to bed any speculation that The Riddler would be the villian in 'The Dark Knight Rises', saying that the character will definitely not be making an appearance! But he did confirm that he’ll “use many of the same characters as we have all along, and we’ll be introducing some new ones.”

For those hoping for a 3-D Batman movie, I'm afraid it doesn't look like it's going to happen. But the good news is that the use of HD and IMAX cameras will still be used! Woohooo :)

No other details on villains I'm afraid. Will keep you posted!

Cameron Locked For Two More 'AVATAR' Movies!

LOS ANGELES, CA - OCTOBER 16: Director/producer James Cameron speaks onstage during Spike TV's 'Scream 2010' at The Greek Theatre on October 16, 2010 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Michael Caulfield/Getty Images)

Twentieth Century Fox has managed to sign up James Cameron for two more 'AVATAR' movies, which unfortunately means that Sony Pictures' 'Cleopatra' has been put on hold - Deadline reports!

The Academy Award®-winning filmmaker James Cameron agreed to make AVATAR 2 and 3 as his next movie projects, and will begin work on the scripts early next year with a view towards starting production late in 2011. Cameron is yet to decide whether or not to shoot the movies back-to-back after he completes the scripts, but the release of the first, as yet untitled sequel, is targeted for December 2014, with the third film contemplated for a December 2015 release.

Fox Filmed Entertainment chairmen Jim Gianopulos and Tom Rothman made the official announcement today, saying:

“AVATAR is not only the highest grossing movie of all time, it is a created universe based on the singular imagination and daring of James Cameron, who also raised the consciousness of people worldwide to some of the greatest issues facing our planet.

“We had no higher priority, and can feel no greater joy, than enabling Jim to continue and expand his vision of the world of AVATAR. This is a great day in the history of our company, and we thank Jim, Jon Landau, Rae Sanchini and all of their team and all of our Fox colleagues throughout the world, who have made this possible.”

Cameron commented on the opportunity to continue with his big-budget saga:

"It is a rare and remarkable opportunity when a filmmaker gets to build a fantasy world, and watch it grow, with the resources and partnership of a global media company. AVATAR was conceived as an epic work of fantasy – a world that audiences could visit, across all media platforms, and this moment marks the launch of the next phase of that world. With two new films on the drawing boards, my company and I are embarking on an epic journey with our partners at Twentieth Century Fox. Our goal is to meet and exceed the global audience's expectations for the richness of AVATAR’s visual world and the power of the storytelling. In the second and third films, which will be self contained stories that also fulfill a greater story arc, we will not back off the throttle of AVATAR’s visual and emotional horsepower, and will continue to explore its themes and characters, which touched the hearts of audiences in all cultures around the world. I'm looking forward to returning to Pandora, a world where our imaginations can run wild."

Producer Jon Landau added his thoughts:

“It is very exciting to be teaming again with our partners at Fox to give audiences the opportunity to return to Pandora.

“With the first movie, Jim only scratched the surface of the stories he wants to tell and the creatures and world he wants to create. Now we will continue his vision.”

Cameron's relationship with FOX spans 25 years and marks one of the most successful filmmaker-studio alliances in motion picture history. Cameron and Fox first got together in 1985 for 'Aliens', which became a sci-fi classic. Next came 'The Abyss', which revolutionised visual effects technology; and 'True Lies', a blockbuster starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. In 1996, FOX gave the green light for Cameron’s 'Titanic', which became the most successful movie in history, and won a record-breaking eleven Academy Awards, including Best Picture!

So there it is... The story of Pandora continues!

Jackson's Body Insecurities Began As A Child Star.

Superstar Janet Jackson has opened up about her early body image issues, revealing she was just 11 when she was told her breasts were "too big" for her role on 'Good Times'.

The Let's Wait A While singer has battled low self-esteem throughout her long career and she admits her struggles began when she was still a child star on the 1970s sitcom.

She recalls:

"I was actually doing Good Times, and on our first day of shooting they bound my chest because they thought my breasts were too big. I got the part when I was 10, we started shooting when I was 11 - I was developing early. It made me feel that the way that I am, it's not good enough."

Jackson is now taking measures to ensure she's fit and healthy and has documented her problems with food in her new self-help book, True You.

She adds:

"That's why I decided to call (the book) True You... Everyone wanted to know about the weight loss, the weight gain - how do I do it. It's just talking about my routine, my workout regimen, my nutrition. I wanted to talk about it."

Anderson's Late Attendance Annoys Dance.

Reports are trickling through that suggest Pamela Anderson fell foul of actor Charles Dance, after turning up late for their London film premiere on last Monday..

Dance was one of the stars, including Dev Patel, Ed Westwick and Jermaine Jackson, who flocked to Aqua nightclub in the British capital to launch the short film, 'The Commuter'. But he was allegedly left fuming when the Baywatch beauty held up the evening with her late arrival, which she blamed on a wardrobe malfunction.

A source tells tabloid rag The Daily Express:

"Charles was furious, going on about how annoying it was that Pamela was so late to her own premiere."

According to the report, Dance's fiancee Eleanor Boorman was on hand to calm him and he was smiling again after a chat with his partner.

Don't you just hate it when people are late to their own premiere? No? Oh...just Charles Dance then.

Richards Speaks About Troubled Sheen!

Photo by: Jackson Lee/starmaxinc.com 2010 10/24/10 Charlie Sheen out and about. (NYC) Photo via Newscom

Troubled star Charlie Sheen's ex-wife Denise Richards has spoken out about the actor's tumultuous night in New York which saw the star hospitalised after the police were called to his hotel suite - confirming she was by his side while he was treated by doctors.

Police were called to investigate an alleged disturbance in Sheen's room at the plush Plaza Hotel in the early hours of yesterday morning. They reportedly found the actor nude and his suite completely trashed, with tables and chairs strewn around the room and a chandelier damaged. Pictures of the alleged damage have since surfaced on TMZ.com.

Sheen was taken by ambulance to a nearby medical facility and his rep confirmed he had suffered an "adverse allergic reaction" to medication. He was kept in hospital for most of yesterday, but was discharged later in the day.

His spokesman confirmed the actor plans to return to his home in Los Angeles, telling People.com:

"Charlie Sheen has been discharged from a hospital in N.Y. and is returning to L.A. today. Everything else is speculation."

Sheen's ex-wife, Richards, who apparently accompanied her former spouse to the hospital, has now spoken out about the incident. In an interview on The Joy Behar Show yesterday, Richards confirmed she was by her ex-husband's side when he was taken to a medical facility, but refused to confirm the details of the incident.

She said:

"I did help him at the hospital... As far as what happened and what went on, I'd rather leave that for Charlie to discuss if that's something he wants to do because that's something very personal and private.

"The thing is that my daughters are five and six and they're at an age where they can start to understand. They have no idea what went on... I'm just trying to protect the girls from it as much as possible."

Richards also wrote about the incident in a series of posts on her Twitter page, revealing it has marred her promotional trip to the Big Apple to promote her new TV series 'Blue Mountain State'.

She writes:

"Press went good for Blue Mountain State... Very difficult but I'm proud of the show and wanted to promote it... Thank u so much for your supportive and kind messages! It means so much to me..."

Longoria Parker's Rep Hits Back At Crash Claims!

LOS ANGELES - OCT 23: Eva Longoria-Parker at the Rally for Kids with Cancer Scavenger Hunt 2010 at Roosevelt Hotel on October 23, 2010 in Los Angeles, CA Photo via Newscom

A rep for Eva Longoria Parker has dismissed allegations from an angry driver who blamed the actress for a car accident last week.

Roman Gasparyan has reportedly threatened to sue the 'Desperate Housewives' star, claiming he suffered back and neck pains after they were involved in a traffic collision in Los Angeles last Wednesday night.

But Longoria Parker's spokesperson is adamant the star is not at fault.

The representative tells TMZ.com:

"According to the police report, the other driver was clearly at fault AND admitted to fault at the scene of the accident. Longoria's eyes were NOT red and bloodshot.

"There is absolutely no truth to this claim, and any indications to the contrary are completely false and untrue. Longoria made no sudden turn, did not violate any traffic violations (sic) nor did she make any sudden lane changes. The other driver is clearly trying to make a case where there is none. All charges are frivolous, without merit, and will not hold up in a court of law."

Wallace And Gromit Humour Lost In Translation!

LONDON - MARCH 26: Creator of Wallace and Grommit, Nick Park poses for photos at the offiicial opening of a new exhibition, Wallace and Gromit Present A World of Cracking Ideas at the Science Museum on March 26, 2009 in London, England. (Photo by Tim Whitby/Getty Images)

The creator of 'Wallace and Gromit' has opened up about the Plasticine pair's failed Hollywood bid, insisting a language barrier killed the movie deal.

Animator Nick Park and Aardman Animations, the firm behind 'Wallace and Gromit', had signed a contract with executives at DreamWorks production company to release five films starring the 'claymation' characters.

But the agreement fell apart in 2007 after three films - and Park blames American studio bosses for failing to understand his British humour.

Speaking to The Radio Times, he says:

"There is a language barrier that often happens with humour. Wallace and Gromit: The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit was going to be called The Great Vegetable Plot but market research didn't like it.

"The verdict was that vegetables are a negative with kids, but of course that's why it's good and works. That's how Wallace and Gromit works. It was elevating the uncool and mundane to something big in Hollywood. That's the irony."

Park also admits the stress of the industry prompted him to hand over more control to Aardman's creative director Merlin Crossingham.

He adds:

"As a control freak you just can't lose control and therefore the stress levels are high. It takes its toll. It's the industry side that burns you out and the creativity that builds you up. That's part of the reason I've stepped back a little and Merlin has taken over."

Damon Wasn't Told About 'Bourne' Axe!

Hollywood stud actor Matt Damon is dashing and dapper as he makes an appearance on the David Letterman TV show to promote his new movie Hereafter , by Oscar winning director Clint Eastwood, in Manhattan, NY on October 13th, 2010. Fame Pictures, Inc

Matt Damon revealed he was shocked when movie bosses announced plans to film 'The Bourne Legacy' without him - because he only heard about the news after reading it on the internet.

The star has played secret agent Jason Bourne in three movies, but sparked rumours of a departure from the franchise when director Paul Greengrass quit and the actor insisted he would not return to the role unless his pal was in charge.

So in comes 'Michael Clayton' helmer Tony Gilroy, who has been hired to take over from Greengrass and since he wrote the screenplay for the first three Bourne installments...he's definitely no stranger to the genre. Alas, this also meant that Damon wouldn't return.

But he was by stunned at the news - because no one "bothered" to inform him of the plans.

He tells Parade magazine:

"I found out they're making another when somebody saw it on the internet. Nobody bothered to call me. I'm not in it, but even so, they'll work Bourne into the title, I guess. Universal just wants to call everything the Bourne something. So I guess they are trying to make another franchise and as they say, 'It isn't over until it's over'."

'The Bourne Legacy' is due for release in 2012.

Nolan Searching For Batman Female Lead? Puurrrrfect!

TOKYO - JULY 21: Director Christopher Nolan attends the 'Inception' press conference at the Ritz-Carlton Tokyo on July 21, 2010 in Tokyo, Japan. The film will open in Japan on July 23. (Photo by Kiyoshi Ota/Getty Images)

Movie news site Moviehole.net is reporting that Warner Bros.’ new 'Batman' movie has stepped up a gear or two - with Christopher Nolan and producers apparently meeting with their prospective female lead. O-M-G!

Nolan began meeting with actors a few weeks back, one of whom was Tom Hardy who was recently reported to be playing an unspecified role in the eagerly-awaited follow-up to 'The Dark Knight'.

According to Moviehole, several young ladies (in their late twenties and early thirties) are meeting with the Nolan this week to talk about the new film. With all the veiled secrecy surrounding this project, quite a few of the ladies don’t actually know what role they’re being asked to read for or meet Nolan about - they’ve merely just accepted an offer to meet with the helmer. Let's face it, with his track successful record..who wouldn't?

For the time being even Moviehole is remaining tight-lipped, as they know a couple of actresses who have been given the golden ticket. But what they can say is that Nolan is after a fresh face, and likely to be in the running for a feline role. Yes..you guessed it..Catwoman! Although before you start getting out the party poppers, this hasn't been confirmed yet.

Their source said:

"Some of the beauties coming in to chat with Christopher, would suggest that."

Expect an official announcement over the next few weeks! Can't wait :)

Cameron Not Involved With 'TRUE LIES' TV Adaptation!

For those who may have missed it, Movieweb mentioned that ace director James Cameron has nothing to do with the planned TV adaptation of his action flick 'True Lies' - despite fan hopes of a sequel to the 1994 movie. This is no white lie!

Even though Cameron has been listed as a producer, the 'AVATAR' director has stated that he won't be involved in the new ABC project.

Speaking to the movie new site, he says:

"I'm not really doing that. That was initiated by others, friends of mine who wanted to do that and I said, God yes, but do I have to show up and do anything? They said, absolutely not."

But will the script that he wrote be used in the project? He adds:

"Well there was a number of sequel scripts but no, I have nothing to do with it. So if it is great, you heard it here, I had nothing to do with it. If it sucks, I had nothing to do with it!"

There you have it! No Arnie, No Curtis and no Cameron.

Jackson "Not Engaged" To Her Latest Squeeze!

PARIS - OCTOBER 06: Janet Jackson arrives for the Louis Vuitton Ready to Wear Spring/Summer 2011 show during Paris Fashion Week at Cour Carree du Louvre on October 6, 2010 in Paris, France. (Photo by Francois Durand/Getty Images)

Janet Jackson has dismissed reports she's engaged to her wealthy Arab businessman boyfriend Wissam Al Mana.

The That's The Way Love Goes hitmaker split from her longtime partner, producer Jermaine Dupri, last summer after seven years of dating. Her new romance with the billionaire industrialist became public earlier this year and recent reports suggested the new couple was already making plans to wed.

But the singer appeared on U.S. breakfast programme Good Morning America today, dismissing the claims.

She said:

"He's a very, very private man so I don't talk about our relationship but I really think it's important that I just say this: they've (the press) been trying to marry me off for a very, very long time. But I'm not engaged so I will say that."

Hopefully that should silence a few wagging tongues out there! ;)

Gibb Urges Young Talent To Focus On Songwriting!

Bee Gees star Robin Gibb is urging young British artists to forget about finding fame on TV talent shows and concentrate on their songwriting skills instead - because stellar tracks will help them conquer the lucrative U.S. market.

The You Win Again singer found fame in America when he and his brothers, Barry and Maurice, wrote classic hits for movies 'Grease' and 'Saturday Night Fever', with the band going on to sell a staggering 220 million records worldwide!

And Gibb insists wannabe superstars have to hone their craft rather than chasing immediate fame on shows such as 'The X Factor' if they really want to become music legends.

He tells the Daily Express newspaper:

"(Songs are) not being created by new people. There's only a handful like ourselves that have got them.

"I just wish new songwriters would be following suit because a lot of new songwriters today think it's just about The X Factor, showing up and singing, but there's a lot more to it than that.

"Musicianship and composing are the backbone of the music industry and that's not about The X Factor; that's about hard work and knowing your stuff.

"A lot of new young British acts should do what the older generation were doing: get America. You can be big (in Britain) but if you haven't got America... ourselves, Elton (John), The Beatles, Sting and others all made America but new British acts that are successful today don't seem to explode beyond the white cliffs of Dover (southern England)."

Good ole Robin. Tells it as it is :)

Beyoncé's mother Tina Knowles has dismissed reports her superstar daughter is expecting her first child, by joking about the pregnancy story on U.S. TV.

The Crazy In Love hitmaker is at the centre of fervid gossip she and rapper husband Jay-Z are preparing to welcome a baby.

The speculation appeared to be grounded in truth when the couple's pal, former Def Jam president Kevin Liles, congratulated the stars on the happy news, saying:

"Jay has been all about family since I met him, and he's always going to be. I wish them the best."

However, during an interview yesterday with Ellen DeGeneres, Beyoncé's mother laughed off rumours she is expecting another grandchild.

She told the TV host:

"I heard that (she's pregnant), but I'm here to clear the rumours up. The truth is, it's not Beyonce who's pregnant - it's me. I'm actually not, I'm 56! No, no - it's not true. Not right now. I'm looking forward to it (when it happens). By now, with all the rumours, I should have about five or six grandchildren."

Actress Naomi Watts is daunted by her upcoming role as Hollywood screen siren Marilyn Monroe - admitting she doesn't know how to play the iconic star.

The actress portrays the 'Some Like It Hot' sex symbol in new biopic 'Blonde', but confesses she can't figure out how to tackle the role - because no one really knew the real Monroe.

She says:

"I don't have a plan yet on how to do it. It's going to be a huge undertaking because everyone obviously has their own idea about who she was.

"It's a high-pressure thing to take on because of how iconic she was. I don't know how I'll go about it."

Gaga Proves Critics Wrong After Microphone Blunder!

Pop sensation Lady Gaga confirmed she doesn't lip-sync when her microphone cut out during a concert in Norway at the weekend.

The Poker Face hitmaker has been touring the world for the past year, performing pitch-perfect shows night after night.

The success of the trek has prompted some cynical critics to publicly assume she isn't singing live during all her performances, and in response to this Gaga said:

"I will sing live every night. I will never lip-sync, not when you buy a ticket to my show!"

And the star proved her worth onstage in Oslo at the weekend, when a technical fault cut off her voice for several seconds during a performance of her hit Alejandro.

During a high-octane dance routine, the singer shouted to her fans:

"I told you I don't lip sync; my f**king mic just went out."

You tell 'em, Gaga!

Elton's Calling It The Blues!

Elton John has reportedly ruled out recording any more pop albums, because he wants to devote the rest of his career to tackling the blues.

The Rocket Man singer reveals working with piano legend Leon Russell on new album The Union has made Elton realise he's too old for the mainstream charts.

And, despite being one of the biggest pop stars of all time, he's turning his back on the genre.

Speaking to USA Today, he says:

"I've never had such a personal experience making a record (as The Union) and it's given me verification that what I should do in the future is make records like this.

"I might collaborate with Lady Gaga or the Scissor Sisters on a single, but I'm not going to make pop albums anymore."

Rihanna & Eminem To Record Song Sequel.

LOS ANGELES, CA - SEPTEMBER 12: (NO ARCHIVES/EDITORIAL USE ONLY) Rapper Eminem (L) and singer Rihanna perform onstage during the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards at NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE on September 12, 2010 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Kevin Winter/Getty Images)

Eminem and Rihanna are set to thrill fans once again by teaming up to record a sequel to their hit track Love The Way You Lie, according to various reports.

The duo blasted through the charts this year with their powerful duet, in which Eminem raps about domestic violence. Rihanna admitted she "connected" with the song after her experiences with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown - who famously attacked the singer last year.

And now the Bajan star is set to release Love The Way You Lie (Part 2), which tells the female victim's side of the story and will feature a guest appearance from Eminem.

Rihanna will reportedly sing the lyrics: “Even angels have their wing cut schemes/ And you take that to new extremes/ But you will always be my hero/ Even though you lost your mind.”

Part 2 of the tale, like the original, will be produced by Brit' Alex Da Kid, and will feature on her forthcoming album, Loud, set to hit the shelves next month!

The question to ask is... do we really need a part 2?

Rep For Cruise Denies 'TOP GUN' Sequel Involvement.

For those who were hoping for Tom Cruise to return to the skies with 'Top Gun II', I'm sorry to say that his rep confirms to EW that this won't be the case. At least not yet anyway!

This makes perfect sense, especially since Christopher McQuarrie (Oscar-winning scribe of 'The Usual Suspects') hasn't eve finished a first draft of the script, and there's no point committing to something where you won't know how it will turn out.

So yes, despite the story being first reported in the New York Magazine, Cruise is (as yet) not involved in the project, nor has Paramount Pictures confirmed that it is even making a 'Top Gun' sequel.

More news on this...when there's something concrete from the studio!

Acclaimed helmer Guillermo del Toro has denied that he's been offered the chance to direct the 'Godzilla' reboot, which is currently in development at Legendary Pictures.

Speaking to Hitfix, he says:

"I am not involved in Godzilla at all, I haven't read it or plan to read it. Nor have I been approached to direct it."

Latino Review originally went on record, suggesting that 'Pacific Rim' could be used as the basis for new 'Godzilla' movie.

James Cameron Working On 3-D 'Cleopatra'?

James Cameron is reportedly thinking of working on a 3-D 'Cleopatra' movie, with a view to have Angelina Jolie in the title role.

According to Deadline, work on the project is being fast-tracked because Brian Helgeland has written a "brilliant script deserving of epic treatment" all about "what the Romans took from Egypt".

Sony have the project (which is said to have a epic budget) are aiming to get started on this next year - whether Cameron directs or not.

Jolie, who has long been attached to the film (one of two 'Cleopatra' flicks in the works; another, with Steven Soderbergh directing, has Catherine Zeta Jones circling the lead role), said in a recent interview:

"I haven’t done a historical epic of that nature and she’s always been fascinating to me because I feel like, as much of her story has been done big, it’s never been done accurately. Not that any movie can get history perfectly well.

"There is no universal truth to history in some films, but you can get closer and I feel there’s a lot that has been unexplored about her. But there's a lot that would have to come together for that to work."

Will someone please hurry up with this! I'm getting bored :/

Hynde Won't Tour In Britain!

The Pretenders star Chrissie Hynde has ruled out taking her latest rock tour around the U.K. - insisting British music fans only care about "disco and talent contests".

Hynde has embarked on an extensive trek of the U.S. to promote her band JP, Chrissie and The Fairground Boys' latest album, Fidelity! But the American-born singer, who moved to London when she was just 22, admits she has no plans to perform in her adopted home country.

Hynde says:

"I've loved living here for 40 years. But the music scene has changed radically. No one's selling records anymore. Now it's all Pop Idol and disco bulls**t and talent contests; people without much talent being judged by people without much taste. So we thought, 'Let's go to the States and see if there's any interest there.' You can tour endlessly in the States."

But Hynde admits playing to small venues in the U.S. won't be a lucrative choice, adding:

"In some places we're playing to a hundred people a night. I'm sharing a room with the wardrobe girl and we're doubling up in Comfort Inns, but I can't wait. I'm looking forward."

Come back Chrissie!

Natalie Portman To Star In 'ALIEN' Prequel?

The reported battle between Ridley Scott and Fox seems to be petering out, which is good news for us 'Alien' fans. So the question now falls on who will play the lead in this eagerly-awaited prequel? Apparently Fox has its eyes on Natalie Portman - according to New York's Vulture.

The site says:

''One reason Fox execs are so thrilled with Lindelof’s Alien draft is that, not only is it creatively engaging, but it adds no expensive "set pieces" — production-speak for elaborate, effects-heavy action sequences that add millions to the cost of a film — to the movie."

"20th Century Fox and Scott have been wrangling over the director’s proposed budget. One insider familiar with the situation puts Scott’s suggested budget at between $150 million and $160 million; Fox obviously, would like that number to shrink. Still, this is some good news for Fox, which has almost nothing resembling a blockbuster in the hopper for the summer of 2012, and could certainly stand to reinvigorate a wildly popular multi-part sci-fi franchise.

"A parade of actresses have met with Scott (who's being represented in these negotiations by his longtime WME agent George Freeman) to discuss the lead role — that of a female Colonial Marine general — but only two have engendered substantial enthusiasm from both Fox brass and Ridley Scott Associates, the director’s Fox-based production company: Vulture can report exclusively that at the top of the list is Natalie Portman."

An insider also tells the site that the script looks like a 12A (PG-13) version. If this is true, I'm not sure how much I'll be interested in seeing this movie :/

Rep Denies Smith Rift With 'Men In Black' Execs.

A studio rep has dismissed rumours the new 'Men In Black III' movie has been put on hold after its star Will Smith fell out with producers over the script.

The Hollywood actor is set to reprise his role as Agent J to fight aliens in the third installment of the hit franchise, and will reportedly be joined by his former co-star Tommy Lee Jones and new addition to the cast....Josh Brolin.

The project was due to begin in New York this month, but was pushed back until late November - fuelling rumours of a rift between Smith, director Barry Sonnenfeld and the movie's producers.

Various reports suggested the actor was unhappy with the script and the shoot had been delayed following a series of arguments. But a representative for Sony Pictures is adamant stories of an on-set dispute are not false and blames the delay on changes to New York's film incentive scheme, which aims to bring moviemakers to the state.

The spokesperson tells New York Post gossip column Page Six:

"The only reason production will begin in mid-November as opposed to late October is to take advantage of recent changes affecting New York State film incentives. Suggesting that a disagreement triggered the shift is complete fiction."

BOOMTOWN RATS star Pete Briquette has gone on record and ruled out the possibility of a reunion, insisting the rockers have had too many "disputes" to come together again.

Briquette has been in the studio with his former bandmate Bob Geldof (pictured above) to help produce his upcoming solo album, How To Compose Popular Songs That Will Sell.

But he's convinced the partnership won't mean a comeback for the Irish rockers.

He says:

"We've all had disputes in the band so it would be hard to do it. I'd love to for sentimental reasons but who would want to see a bunch of middle-aged old blokes on stage?"

Never say never, Pete!

Chatshow queen Oprah Winfrey is apparently set to interview Michael Jackson's three children - according to a new report.

Winfrey visited the late singer's mother Katherine on last Saturday (9th October 2010) at her Encino, California home, where she interviewed the family matriarch, her husband Joe and took a tour of the property.

But new reports suggest Winfrey also sat down with other members of the family - including  Jackson's three children, Prince Michael, 13, Paris, 12, and eight-year-old Blanket.

The siblings, who have never been interviewed before, are believed to have broken their silence on their famous dad for Winfrey, who is wrapping up the final season of her hit daytime show.

The Thriller megastar, who died last year, went to great lengths to keep his children shielded from the spotlight, schooling them at home and covering their faces with masks and cloths in public.

The episode is due to air in the coming weeks, according to the New York Daily News.
