Movie Releases - This week i recommend..

Hello all!

Many apologies for not having updated my blog in a while, but I've been very busy with work..and tired afterwards.

However I've mustered up enough energy to give you my recommendations for films out this week. Well...I say films....but I only really have one recommendation this week - and this might not suit those who avoid love stories like the plague.

The film I am talking about is:

Tristan and Isolde - starring Sophia Myles (Lady Penelope in the 'Thunderbirds' movie), James Franco (Spiderman) and Rufus Sewell.

The story is set after the fall of Rome, and in a time when the warlords of England are brutally kept in line by the forces of Irish King Donnchadh. One of these leaders, Lord Marke (Sewell) seeks to unite the English tribes to form one strong nation to rule itself. His greatest knight is Tristan (Franco), whom Marke raised since he was orphaned in an Irish attack that also took Marke's family. With Tristan by his side, Marke believes he can unify his people and rid England of Irish rule. But Tristan harbors a terrible secret...Wounded and left for dead after battle, he is nursed back to health by Isolde (Myles), a mysterious Irish beauty who hides him from her father, King Donnchadh's, forces and brings him back to life.

However, their passionate affair is cut short when Tristan must return to England, not knowing if he will see Isolde again. Still hoping to throw the English tribes back into chaos, King Donnchadh gives away his daughter as the prize in a tournament between all the champions of England. Tristan wins the princess' hand for Lord Marke, whose vision of a united England may finally be realised. Tristan is horrified to see that the woman he has won for his Lord, the woman whom Marke will marry, is his Irish savior Isolde. If that wasn't enough, Marke is a good and worthy future king, whose belief in Tristan has made the young knight who he is. Faced with their loyalty to King and country, Tristan and Isolde must suppress their emotions for the sake of peace and the future of England...but despite their efforts they are driven inexorably together, risking everything for one last moment in each other's arms.

Since I have a soft spot for love stories, this is one I simply must try and see. One for a sunday afternoon I think!

Well...that's me for my reviews for this week... Hope you all have a fantastic weekend...and I'll update this blog some more next week. Be safe folks!

Back on top!

Hello blogger readers!

Apologies for the lack of entries in my blog... As I said, I've had to get a load of crap sorted out! But finally...I can safely say that I'm all up-to-date now..and here's what happened..

Over 6 weeks ago an ex flat mate (now an ex because I've now moved house) broke the news to me that she was not planning to renew her part of the contract, to stay on at the flat. Now I was kind of hoping this would be the case..as I really wanted a change of scenery, plus the fact that the atmosphere in the place was a bit grim anyway. I wish I had taken pictures of the cell which I called a room for all of 2 years!! But...it did the trick for what I needed at the time...but I later found out what the flat mates were really like. Not that I'm a moaning sod or anything...I just have a dislike to people slamming their bedroom doors shut... I could almost put a tune to the door slamming, like a conductor would lead an orchestra. So anyway...back to the flat mate (Bianca). The other flat mate kind of reacted in a brash way to this new piece of news...and to be honest..who wouldn't. I mean..Bianca was entitled to do whatever she chose to do, but I guess it was more of a case of we got comfortable in the surroundings. So my search for a new place had commenced, and I didn't have much luck..

I can't recall all of the places that I saw...but there was always something wrong with it. The place was too small, the room wasn't clean, the kitchen was a 5* luxury resort for rats and pests...or the flat mates looked just plain dodgy! But my main gripe was going to see places without a bloody living room!!! I mean..I would have gone completely insane! I was due to move out on the first Sunday in April...and luckily...on Saturday 1st April...I got a text message telling me that I was chosen to live in a place that I saw the day before that! That room was absolutely fantastic!! It was spacious, airy, large bed, sofa, tv and minimal but nice storage area! There was a closet area in the hallway..where i could store and hang my clothes..and it was just right - space wise. When I saw the pictures I fell in love with it...because aside from the room being totally ideal, the rest of the flat was totally done up in a modern and bright style. It just felt like home, and although I was a tad unsure as to how safe the surrounding area was at night, my fears were quashed after returning home from a night out...and discovering that there was nothing to worry about at all.

So..Sunday 2nd April 2006...

I woke up to find that my laptop had totally gone kaput...and I thought my world had collapsed. I remember frantically flicking through the Yellow Pages and checking to see who could come out and fix it, but after being told a few times that my drive had completely gone...I decided that it would make more sense to get me a new one. After what seemed like 2 hours being in the PC World store..I ended up getting this one here.. It looks great and performs perfectly for what i need it for :)

So yes, now that I had my new laptop, I was all ready to move into the new place. I moved in with what little stuff I had...as a guy called Ian was kindly storing the rest of my belongings for me in his house. Speaking of which...I have to say a huge THANK YOU to you Ian.. You were a huge help and support throughout my housemoving stresses.. I won't forget this act of kindness! I have now found a storage place for all my possessions, and collapsed the last of the cardboard boxes from my move..

Now a over a week into my stay at my new home...I can safely say that I'm finally home at last. The couple who I live with (called Chris & Marco) are the most sweetest of couples that I have ever met. They've been together for over 3 years, and it renewed hope in me that relationships can indeed flourish...with a bit of effort and commitment!

And finally...WORK wise :) Well...I've been offered a contact where I work...and am now part of the fixtures and fittings! It's taken me a while...but I managed it. Believe me...this wasn't without its stresses either. I had to have a series of security checks, and references done on me that had to be vetted and approved. After being close to telling them to stick their contract where the sun didn't shine..they came back to me with a start date :D Just goes to show...patience is indeed a virtue!

So with the job, new home, new laptop and new life...things are definitely on the up. But yesterday wasn't without its surprises. An ex of mine from two years back got in touch..one who hurt me just when I needed someone the most.

To you...Richard...I know you're probably reading this and to be honest...I hope you do..

********************
Two years ago you tore out my heart and threw it out the window. I knew you weren't happy, and despite my attempts to try to rectify things, I always held out for hope that you would extend your patience with me a little while longer. But...instead...you felt the need to seek the comfort of another guy..and what made it worse was that I caught you both in the same bed! I thank you for doing what you did, because you helped me to see that the world was not a bed of roses. You also killed a huge part of me that day...but it was a part of me that was dying anyway! In the two years since we split, I had discovered what true love was..and what it was like to have felt love...even when the going got tough. I met a truly amazing man a few months after I left you and it was he who helped make me into the person I am today. Yes...you did help me to get out of a vicious circle that my life was back then, but when a part of me disappeared...you went with it.

I am happy things are starting to look up for you in your life, and I will say again that I don't hate you. I've already told you that I don't waste my energies on hate anymore. Although I am single now, I am happier than I have ever been...because even without a man to call a boyfriend at present...the fact that I loved is enough for me. Don't treat your next guy the way you treated me...I hope what you did to me has made you see that a true relationship requires a lot of effort...and then some. A relationship without effort...isn't one worth being in.

Take care Richard..!

Well...that's it from me for the meantime folks.. As in true 'ED' fashion...I will report on any gossip relating to James Bond and other films..as and when I get it.

Back to the grindstone now...catch you all soon :)

Movie Releases - This week i recommend..

What a mad couple of weeks I have had!!

In pure 'me' fashion, I will let you all know what has diverted my attention from you happy readers! But in the meantime...my pickings movie-wise for this week. To be totally honest, there was only one movie that I thought was highly recommended..and that is..

The Squid and the Whale - starring Laura Linney, Jeff Daniels, Jesse Eisenberg, Owen Kline, Halley Feiffer, William Baldwin, Alexandra Daddario, Eli Gelb, Henry Glovinsky, Anna Paquin, Adam Rose and Benjamin Smolen.

Set in the mid-1980s in Brooklyn, New York..Bernard Berkman (Jeff Daniels) claims to have been a famous novelist, although is now reduced to teaching. Wife to Bernard, Joan Berkman (Laura Linney), discovers she too has a literary talent..which ends up breaking up the family. This leaves teenage sons Walt (Jesse Eisenberg) and Frank (Owen Kline) to choose which parent to side with. And if all of this wasn't enough, to add to the complication...Joan starts an affair with Frank's tennis coach, whilst Bernard starts sleeping with a student, who Walt is courting at the moment.

Jeff Daniels gives his best performance yet in this film! Prepare to have your heart broken and mended in the space of a couple of hours!
